The 58th edition of Marmomac, held at VeronaFiere, concluded successfully, reaffirming its position as the world’s most important trade fair for the stone industry. With Italy boasting over 3,200 companies and 34,000 employees in this sector, the 2023 event highlighted the industry’s impressive figures: €4.5 billion in revenue, €3.2 billion in exports (71.2% of production), and a positive trade balance exceeding €2.7 billion.

Running from September 23 to 27, Marmomac attracted 50,000 visitors, with 68% coming from 140 different countries. A total of 1,485 companies from 55 nations exhibited across 12 halls and 4 outdoor areas, covering 74,000 square meters. The largest delegations hailed from countries including the U.S., India, China, and Canada, showcasing the event’s truly international scope. As a testament to its global reach, VeronaFiere is already planning a Brazilian edition of Marmomac.

At the heart of this success is the Verona Stone District, one of the region’s key economic drivers, particularly in the Valdadige and Valpantena areas. Founded in 2018, the district represents 609 companies, including 370 from the Verona province alone, employing over 3,000 workers. Filiberto Semenzin, the district’s president, emphasized Marmomac’s role as the leading platform for promoting Italy’s natural stone on the international stage.

Semenzin coined Marmomac’s success as the event of the “3 I’s”—internationalization, innovation, and ingenuity—which make Verona Stone District a hub for high-end architecture and design. The district’s mission is to support the growth and global promotion of its member companies, fostering research, collaboration, and product development in the marble and stone industry.

Moreover, Verona Stone District plays a key role in youth education, collaborating with institutions like the San Zeno Marble Technical School and various universities to nurture the next generation of talent.
