Pietra Naturale Autentica (PNA) is taking part in Marmomac 2024, the world’s leading exhibition dedicated to the stone industry. Marmomac is the most important global event for professionals involved in natural stone extraction, processing, and trade, attracting attendees from across the world.

One of the key highlights of PNA’s participation is the presentation of the LCA Mondo (Life Cycle Assessment) study, the first industry-wide assessment of the environmental impact of natural stones processed in Italy. This presentation took place on the third day of the event, which was dedicated to sustainability, with a deep dive into the importance of the LCA Mondo for the future of the stone industry.

Led by Claudia Chiappino, the PNA’s Head of Sustainability, the presentation provided an in-depth look into the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), a crucial tool for measuring and understanding the environmental footprint of natural stone, both extracted in Italy and abroad. The LCA helps companies evaluate the environmental impact of their products at every stage—from raw material extraction to processing and disposal—giving a complete picture of their sustainability.

What sets the LCA Mondo study apart is its comprehensive analysis of the entire life cycle of the stone, regardless of where the raw materials originate, with a focus on the processing techniques used in Italy. This pioneering study gives the stone industry an objective framework to assess its environmental impact and serves as a roadmap for implementing more sustainable production practices.
