Argenta Cerámica Commits to the Environment

( Date: 2023/5/16 9:37:40 )

CASTELLóN, SPAIN -- Argenta Cerámica, which specializes in the manufacturing and marketing of wall and floor tiles for architecture and interior design, has launched an ambitious photovoltaic self-consumption project at its five factories to generate clean non-fossil-fuel energy.

In its energy and environmental strategy, the tile company planned to install 19.2 MWp of peak power with an annual generation capacity of 26,727 MWh. It is now taking a step forward by confirming the target and adding connections for up to 15 MWp in operation.

With this photovoltaic energy generation plant distributed across its five factories, the ceramics company will reduce 6,922 tons of indirect CO2 emissions per year, making a major contribution to the decarbonization of the environment. In addition, with this new green generation facility, Argenta will meet 26% of its electricity consumption and cut its electricity costs by 29%.

The solar power generation plants as a whole will occupy a total surface area of 92,020 square meters covered by photovoltaic solar panels. There will be 35,218 modules divided among its manufacturing facilities.

This is an ambitious commitment to an industrial model of reducing CO2 emissions and the carbon footprint, improving energy efficiency and cutting production costs to improve competitiveness.

The development of this solar project is part of the environmental improvement policy that the company has been developing through other actions such as recovering heat from furnaces, constant reinvestment in the latest and most efficient technology and recycling wastewater and ceramic sludge.
